HISTORY

The strategic partnership of STUDEN Holding with the Austrian company VFI (Vereinigte Fettwarenindustrie) since 2002 established the joint company Seed Oil Holdings in Vienna. BIMAL Group was formed through a joint investment and the factory in Brčko was taken over.

Initially, BIMAL was planned as a soybean processing plant, for which a project plan was made on the island of Vis in 1943 year. The beginning of construction in Brčko, then the only factory for the production of edible oil in Bosnia and Herzegovina, was in 1947 year, and since its commissioning in 1951 until 1992. BIMAL from Brčko continuously marketed products obtained from sunflower seeds, soybeans and rapeseed on the market of the former Yugoslavia. Due to the events of the war and in the difficult post-war period, BIMAL stopped working, and the factory was closed for more than a decade. With the arrival of new investors in 2002 BIMAL from Brčko restarted production and thus became the first privatized company in Brčko district.

In order to restore production, a complete modernization and reconstruction of the plant was made, with investment in the company’s personnel and resources, as well as improvement of the quality of edible oil. Today, BIMAL Group is part of the Agro-industrial complex in Brčko, which is one of the largest agro-industrial complexes in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Since taking over in 2002 year, with constant investment in the quality of BIMAL products and production facilities, BIMAL has quintupled its oil seed processing capacity from 26,000 tons per year to 120,000 tons of current seed processing. Also, oil refining capacity was increased from 12,000 tons to 66,000 tons.

The construction of the Agro-Industrial Complex in Brčko and the establishment of the BIMAL Group began in 2009 by taking over the company ŽITOPROMET Brčko. By expanding business in Serbia, 2013 BIMAL Group chooses Belgrade as the location of its main trading company, BIMAL Trading, for the trade in crude vegetable oil, oilseeds and grains, as well as for the distribution of BIMAL Group’s final products on the Serbian market. In 2015 The company BIMAL Agri was founded in Bečej with the aim of storing oilseeds and grains, as well as for the organization of agricultural production and trade of raw materials in the region. In 2022, the BIMAL Group rounded off its investment cycle in Bečej with the takeover of the traditional factory for the production of animal feed BEČEJKA and together with the existing company and storage capacities of BIMAL Agri forms BIMAL BEČEJKA for the production of animal feed.

By the development of business in the edible oil industry, BIMAL Group is at the end of 2019 took over a factory with a long tradition of edible oil production in Sombor, which started its own production in Serbia, in the BIMAL SUNCE factory. As part of the BIMAL Group, the highest technical and technological level of production and product quality has been established in the BIMAL SUNCE factory. Thanks to the establishment of production in Serbia, BIMAL Group gained a significant advantage and regional leadership in discovering new markets and meeting the needs of traditional markets.
