Day of Oilseeds took place in digital form
Brčko, 02.04.2021 – Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the BIMAL company and the Institute of agricultural development and promotion IRUP have celebrated the Day of Oilseeds this year in a different way, by means of the video with the theme of importance of the domestic raw materials base.
“We have managed to convey the experiences to our associates, farmers, but also to all other guests who usually gather during the Day of Oilseeds, in a video which we have prepared, in order to answer all those questions we usually in person discuss at the panel discussions. We have tried to encompass and turn the attention to the burning issue during the COVID time, and that is the great role of the domestic raw material base“ said the director of the Institute of agricultural development and promotion IRUP Brčko, Azelea Suljkanović.
The Video which in the digital format marked this year’s Day of Oilseeds has included the subjects of the safe purchase of oilseeds, oilseeds harvest, importance of the domestic raw materials base, available incentives and agricultural technology, as well as increasingly present subject– GMP crops.
The collocutors in the video have agreed that the realization about existence of the GMO crops in BiH is devastating, especially since this area is legally defined, thus making the willingness of certain farmers to plant GMO soybean completely prohibited.
“We have once again pointed out to everybody that BIMAL is NON-GMO producer and it does not buy GMO raw materials, so they should be aware that GMO plots easily contaminate the surrounding plots“ Suljkanović pointed out.
The respective ministries are actively working on suppression of prohibited GMO crops, and in the meantime, on territory of the Republic of Srpska, the new Rulebook clearly states that the farmers who attempt to plant modifies soybean this year on their fields, are risking to be excluded from the system of incentives for two years.
